Terms of Use
Effective July 2, 2026
These terms govern your use of the Fish ID app and tryfishid.com, operated by the Fish ID team ("Fish ID", "we"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
Regulations disclaimer
Fishing regulation information in Fish ID is provided for general informational purposes only, may be incomplete or out of date, and has no legal force or effect. Always verify current regulations with your state wildlife agency before fishing.
AI identification accuracy
Species identification in Fish ID is AI-assisted, and it can be wrong. Similar species, unusual coloration, juvenile fish, and photo conditions can all produce an incorrect identification. Treat every identification as a suggestion, not a guarantee. You are responsible for confirming the species — and the applicable regulations — before deciding to keep a fish. When the call matters, verify against an official source.
Subscriptions
Fish ID Pro is an auto-renewable subscription. The following applies to all subscription purchases:
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, at the price shown at the time of purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings at any time after purchase (Settings > your name > Subscriptions on your iPhone).
- Billing and refunds are handled by Apple, not by Fish ID. Refund requests go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Acceptable use
Fish ID is for your personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to:
- circumvent or attempt to circumvent scan limits, subscription checks, or other technical controls;
- probe, overload, disrupt, or interfere with the Fish ID API or its infrastructure;
- reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the app or its data feeds;
- use the app for any unlawful purpose.
We may suspend or block access for abuse of the service.
No warranty
Fish ID is provided "as is" and "as available." We work to keep identifications and regulation information accurate, but we make no warranty of any kind — express or implied — that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that any identification or regulation information is accurate, complete, or current. Use of the app is at your own risk.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fish ID and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app — including, without limitation, citations, fines, penalties, or the loss of fishing privileges resulting from reliance on information in the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Updates are posted here with a new effective date, and continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised terms. If a change is significant, we'll say so in the app.
